Making the new carbon economy accessible to all

At Opcycle, we provide advisory services to help anyone dealing with waste biomass become a generator of valuable biochar and certified carbon credits.
Through market studies, technology match-making, or navigating complex verification standards and market criteria, we open the door to the carbon economy to a variety of entrepreneurs, and contribute to immediate climate action.

Biochar projects offer an opportunity to deliver socio-economic benefits to their host communities, including responsible waste management, soil and water health, job creation and socio-economic development.

We need to remove up to 10 gigaton of CO2 from the atmosphere by 2050 in order to keep our planet safe. So far, we have only achieved 0.05% of this target. By growing a global network of biochar producers, we are fighting climate change.

Every player matters, but need tailor made solutions that are adaptable, easily scaleable, and facilitate innovation by their users. Ultimately, we believe this networking approach will generate large scale results, and better resilience overall.
Our Mission
Accelerate and sustain the removal of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, by delivering rigorous support and access to global carbon markets for highly scalable community-led biochar projects.
Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR)
01
Carbon dioxide from the atmosphere is absorbed by plants used in agriculture.
02
Waste biomass from plants is then managed through pyrolysis by local project developers.
03
The resulting biochar is a carbon based, highly stable material that will not release carbon dioxide over time. It can be sold for numerous applications, including agriculture, soil remediation, building materials and industrial processes.
04
The amount of carbon captured is calculated, audited, then recorded in an independent registry, and sold as carbon offsets.
Services
We believe in the power of biochar production to remove excess carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. Such projects, however, face challenges when it comes to accessing the voluntary carbon market. We are here to help:
Project Development:
-
Feasibility assessment
-
Stakeholder engagement
-
Training
-
Technology review
-
Regulatory matters
Carbon Credits:
Market Access:
-
Project aggregation
-
Authentication and registration of carbon credits
-
Education and outreach for local uses for biochar
-
Sale of carbon offsets on the voluntary market
-
R&D support for emerging biochar applications
